When I was young, I always loved to draw and create in clay. It was only when I took up painting in mid-life that the world began to open in a new way: discovering the magic encountered by close attention to the world, engaging ‘what is’ in the present moment. I have always been in awe of this process – it meant learning how to see.
My work is mainly in oil, ranging from classical impressionism to abstract. I am inspired by nature, the light and color of our fragile world, the energy and vibrancy of animals, the ineffable beauty of the human figure.
Moving to Asheville, NC in 2013 proved to be another turning point. The wonder of this mountain town and its creative community has given me new perspectives on the land and life.
I want you to experience my passion for color and 'the play of the great light' through my paintings.
"The only magic that exists is this life, this world, the particular phenomena we are all experiencing right this moment. Right now, right here. you are in this magic."
